3. Distance Learning
UPM also offers Distance Learning programs to enable working students and those facing difficulties in attending campus-based classes, similar to full-time students. At present, UPM offers 7 bachelor's programs under the Distance Learning mode, which are:
- Bachelor of Agricultural Science;
- Bachelor of Science (Human Resource Development) (BSHRD);
- Bachelor of Science (Human Development) (BSPM);
- Bachelor of Communication (BCOMM);
- Bachelor of Arts in Malay Language and Linguistics (BABM);
- Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BABE); and
- Bachelor of Education in Teaching English as a Second Language (BPTESL)
This program places a strong emphasis on self-guided learning, providing a flexible approach that accommodates working individuals looking to advance their education. Consequently, various supportive learning methods are in place, including the provision of downloadable learning modules on the PutraODL portal for students to use as valuable reference materials.
Students enrolled in this program will attend lectures at learning centers using Interactive Live Streaming (ILS), which involves two-way communication between UPM lecturers and students. These interactive sessions take place every week, typically from Friday to Sunday, based on the schedule arranged for each course. Additionally, recordings are made to facilitate students in reviewing the courses they've taken.
New student intake for this Bachelor's Distance Learning program occurs twice a year, in June for the first semester and in December for the second semester. Applications are open year-round and can be submitted online.
