UPM-PHEIs graduates are the most employable in the country – Prof. Datuk Fauzi

SERDANG - Graduates of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)-Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) collaborative programmes are the most employable graduates that is within six months after graduation.

UPM Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Fauzi Ramlan said, according to Employability Graduates records in 2013, UPM-PHEIs graduates successfully achieved 86.7% compared to 75% of employable graduates from other public-private higher education institutions collaborative programmes in the country.

"To ensure the PHEIs that collaborate with UPM provide top-notch quality, UPM has always been consulted to improve their educational programmes.

"UPM hopes the collaborative PHEIs will continue their excellence in producing quality and employable graduates in the job market," he said in his speech during the 15th UPM-Private Higher Education Institutiosn Collaboration Programme Convocation Ceremony at the Grand Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Culture and Arts Centre.



Prof. Datuk Dr. Fauzi also hopes synergistic relationship between UPM and the respective PHEIs is further strengthened through sharing of experience in teaching, learning and research to ensure both UPM and those institutions’ graduates would have the same quality.

In another development, Prof. Datuk Dr. Fauzi said UPM encourages graduates to venture into entrepreneurial activities as well as explore new areas to enable them to compete more competitively in the job market.

At the event, a total of 257 graduates of Kolej Teknologi Timur, Unity College, University College Shahputra, Cybernetics International College of Technology, Risda College and University College Bestari received their degree and diploma scrolls respectively. Of the total number of recipients, 39 received their Bachelors and 218 received their Diplomas.

Those PHEIs are currently conducting six collaborative programmes involving five faculties in UPM.

UPM is ranked first among public universities that produce the most PhD graduates in the country with a total of 440 graduates this year.
