SERDANG, Dec 8 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continued to achieve outstanding success in the UI-GreenMetric World University Ranking 2020 Top 50 Sustainable Universities when once again it was named the best university in Malaysia thus creating history when it triumphantly maintained this position continuously for eleven (11) consecutive years.
UPM also managed to maintain its 28th position in the Top 50 Sustainable Universities in The World this year and was also listed as the third top university in Asia.
A total of 922 universities from various countries were evaluated in the UI-GreenMetric World University Ranking this year.
The grading for sustainable campus had more than 40 indicators covering 6 main scopes, namely infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation and not to be forgotten the important component of education.
UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman stated that this successful outcome was UPM's commitment towards environmental conservation and preservation through various teaching, research and co-curricular activities as well as quality management system based on effective environmental management.
"UPM will continue to strive to be a campus that not only focuses on academic achievements but also serves as an institute of knowledge that produces people who are well-informed in the preservation and conservation of the environment," he said.
The results issued by the ranking organiser, Universiti Indonesia (UI) on December 7, 2020, listed universities from the United States and Europe dominating the top 20 rankings.
