SERDANG, Nov 16 – It was not easy for two national athletes who represented the country in different championships to stay focussed on their academic studies which required great sacrifice.

The athletes, Bibi Nuraisyah (shot put) and Jonathan Wong Guanjie (shooting sports), have finally completed their studies in Bachelor of Education (Physical Education) at the 43rd UPM Convocation Ceremony today.

Both of them felt relief that they were able to complete their studies according to plan.

Bibi Nuraisyah, who represented the country in the 2017 SEA Games and helped UPM to win gold medals in the MASUM and SUKIPT championships, said that the support given by her family had kept her motivated to keep going and succeed.

Bibi is now continuing her studies in Master of Sports Science.

Jonathan Wong Guanjie, Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering, who represented Malaysia in the Olympic Games Rio 2016, said although he had to extend the duration of his studies for a year due to his commitment to sports, it did not stop him from completing it.

Jonathan is now undergoing training to prepare for the 2019 SEA Games at the Philippines and said that success can be achieved if the spirit to fight for the country is given priority over everything else. - UPM
