Students witness the uniqueness of Zhong Hua's culture

SERDANG, March 5 - The Zhong Hua Cultural Arts Association of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) shared its appreciation and knowledge of practices of Chinese New Year celebrations that have been passed through generations, with both the public and UPM students through the Ang Pau Festival Programme.

The sharing was done in conjunction with the recent Chinese New Year celebration, highlighting the uniqueness of the culture and arts of Zhong Hua that is commonly characterised by the harmony, beliefs, language, culture, and traditional practices of the Malaysian Chinese society.

Programme Director, Pang Way Ken said that the programme with the theme 'Faithful Resilience' is the main annual programme of Zhong Hua Cultural Arts Association.

"Various fairs including carnivals and stage performances are held throughout this month and in April.

"I hope that the Chinese culture will continue to be preserved and a festive Chinese New Year atmosphere is created on campus," he said.

Mohd Nazri Noh, Head of Administration of the UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), in his opening speech said that the programme plays an important role in promoting the uniqueness of Zhong Hua's culture.

"The uniqueness of this culture can foster a high level of understanding, tolerance, mutual respect regardless of race and social class and create a harmonious atmosphere in campus," he said.

The programme which is running for the 13th time, attempts to promote and preserve the Chinese culture through the various events and activities held, namely the roadshow at SJK (C) Serdang and IOI City Mall, the Ang Pau Festival carnival and stage performances.
