Solace in sorrow at UPM’s Convocation

SERDANG, 4 Nov -Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Royal Chancellor, Tuanku Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah presented a doctoral degree to the son of a deceased post-graduate student, Jamal Abdul Hamid, in a special ceremony after the UPM’s 41st  Convocation Ceremony.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Education and Community Development degree was accepted by his eldest son, Muhamad Ridwan who was accompanied by his mother, Asha Marya and five of his siblings.

 

The late Jamal, who died on October 21 suffered from cardiac complications for two years. He had worked for radio RTM for 32 years, was a speaker for an international ‘tilawah’ from 1982 until 2012 as well as being the President for Muslim India Malaysia (MIM).

 

"Dad was very active and loved charity work and education. His advice for us was never to give up despite facing a thousand hurdles will be remembered," Ridwan said.
