Safe Kids Malaysia awarded FedEx Road Safety 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 - Safe Kids Malaysia Universiti Putra Malaysia was awarded a road safety award, Raya FedEx ‘FedEx Road Safety Award 2017’ by Global Alliance here.

 

The award and a cash prize of USD5,000 were presented to Safe Kids Malaysia UPM during the fifth meeting of Global Alliance of NGOs on Road Safety, the coalition that supports road safety and comes to the aid of accident victims in their respective countries via its programmes.

 

The prizes were given away by FedEx Communication Advisor (Memphis, USA), Shane O’Connor. The prize presentation ceremony was graced by Transport Minister and also attended by United Nations Special Envoy for Road Safety, Jean Todt.

 

Besides UPM, FedEx also presented awards to two NGOs active in road safety programmes - Africans Against Drunk Driving from South Africa and Alinagon which is based in Berlin.

Safe Kids Malaysia Universiti Putra Malaysia, Executive Director, Associate Professor Dr. Kulanthayan KC Mani said UPM would remain committed in helping Malaysia to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 3.6 target (Reduction in Fatalities Due to Road Accidents by 50% by 2020).

“Safe Kids Malaysia UPM will continue to expand its Putra Bakti programme – Intervention Programme on the Use of Helmets for Children for their safety in Malaysia,” he said.

The FedEx Road Safety award is open to all 100 member countries of NGO Global Alliance – UPM.
