Perak Chief Minister shares his experience on ‘Social Business: Perak Experience’

SERDANG, Feb 7– Perak Chief Minister, Dato' Seri DiRaja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir shared his experience with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in a public lecture entitled 'Social Business: Perak Experience'.

 

In his speech, he asserted that the Perak state government helps its’ people by preparing and providing business opportunities for them.

 

"We do not only help them with financial assistance but also provide business opportunities for them which then generates a substantial return," he said.

 

The ceremony was held at the Faculty of Economics and Management and officiated by UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato' Dr. Aini Ideris. Also present was Prof. Dr. Azali Mohamed, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Management.

 

Prof. Datin Paduka Dato' Dr. Aini said the event aimed at exposing students and faculty members to the Perak Chief Minister’s experience in transforming Perak into a 'social business state'.

 

Also invited to the programme was the founder of Sister Sabria Montreal Foundation, Canada, Sabariah Hussein, who shared her social work experience in Montreal which eventually managed to draw the attention of Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

 

"The charity work that I do, does not benefit people of only certain races and religions, but all. I like doing charity because it gives me self-satisfaction," she said.

 

She stated that every year in the month of Ramadan, she and several other volunteers will cook meals for about 450 students to break fast while also hoping to reap the blessings of the sacred month. - UPM
