“Pak Rashid the Che’gu” lecture series by UPM Alumni Centre

SERDANG, July 25 – The Alumni Centre of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has organized a lecture series on “Pak Rashid the Che’gu” in recognition of the role of alumni in boosting the image of UPM and strengthening goodwill between them and their alma mater.

Vice-Chancellor of UPM, Prof Datin Paduka Dr Aini Ideris said UPM is well aware of the fact that the excellent performance of a university will be stronger and more stable with active support from alumni who are assets to the university.

“This has been proven by leading universities worldwide,” she said in her welcoming speech at the function.

She expressed hope that the generous tradition be upheld for continued excellence of UPM.

She said Pak Rashid Foundation had also established strategic collaborations with alumni and corporate bodies to achieve and maintain excellence in higher education and professional services.

“UPM truly appreciates our alumni and partners who always have in their minds UPM as their alma mater. Your contribution is very meaningful to us. We are grateful for whatever contributions you have made to help realize the objectives of Pak Rashid Foundation,” she added.



The lecture series on Pak Rashid Foundation were delivered by a board member of Pak Rashid Foundation Board of Trustees, Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Noor Ismail, who is also 1955 Class UPM Alumni and a protégé of the late Pak Rashid.

Also held were sharing of experiences by the audience, family members and acquaintances of Pak Rashid.

The idea to name the foundation Pak Rashid was mooted by his friends and alumni who knew each other and always remembered him as an excellent teacher.

Pak Rashid or his real name Mohd Rashid Ahmad had always emphasized on a balance between the delivery of knowledge of science and formation of personality of students of Pak Rashid Foundation which was set up in 2000. – UPM.
