KanWork3 Charity Walkathon Raises Public Awareness of Cancer

 

SERDANG, 15 Sept - KanWork3 Charity Walkathon was a huge success as the reception was great, and it also raised public awareness of cancer especially among those who participated in the programme.

 

The 5km Charity Run was organised by the Cancer Network Association of Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan (KanWork) with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and War on Cancer Malaysia in Bukit Ekso, UPM.

 

According to the President of KanWork, Dr Mazanah Muhamad, the programme had successfully increased the public awareness of cancer especially among the participants and had inspired a healthy lifestyle via walking activity and had also raised funds for the organisation.

 

She believed that the KanWork3 Charity Walkathon had fostered the spirit of brotherhood among KanWork members and their fellow collaborators through the many social interactions.

 

She further added, “This would stimulate cancer awareness activities for the general public, healthy lifestyle practices and also strengthen the relationships and collaborations between KanWork and its partners.”

 

According to her, there were many interesting activities lined up during the programme such as medical check-up, picnic, cancer exhibition and sessions with cancer survivors.

 

KanWork is a registered non-governmental organisation (NGO), and its mission is to provide information and educate the community on cancer especially to cancer patients, survivors and their families.

 

KanWork also organises various activities such as cancer education and awareness programmes, offers information, emotional and spiritual support for cancer patients via visits to the hospital, their home and the helpline1-8000-22-8672 as well as organising cancer support group activities for cancer patients. - UPM
