SERDANG, Nov 17: The Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh, urged graduates to have authority and integrity and to carry out their responsibilities in a trustworthy manner.

He said that graduates must also be great leaders in organisations and society.

“When we possess all the great qualities, the organisations, society and country will become successful and excellent,” he said at the fourth session of the 43rd UPM Convocation Ceremony here today.

He added that the success in receiving degrees and diplomas should motivate graduates to continue to be successful in life and career.

He urged graduates to continue enhancing their knowledge and skills, as well as seeing their success as a path to contribute more meaningfully to the formation of a society and to the enhancement of human civilisation that is of better quality, integrity and synergy between environment.

Tan Sri Mohd Bakke also said that graduates need to be ready to contribute from the first day of work upon entering the workforce as they have been provided with the knowledge in their field.

Apart from that, he said, they should also learn something new quickly and seize any opportunity to improve their skills and abilities.

He said that graduates should not forget the sacrifices of their parents and family who were the pillar of strength of their success.

“Their blessing, especially from parents, is very important in life,” he said. - UPM
