Breaking fast and Tarawih prayers with His Royal Chancellor

SERDANG, May 17 – His Royal Chancellor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, was pleased to present Hari Raya donations to 80 orphans, asnaf and muallaf who are students of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

His Majesty, the Sultan of Selangor, presented the contribution in conjunction with the Breaking Fast event and Tarawih Prayer with about 1,000 UPM and community members at UPM Mosque.

The event saw the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Special Aid Fund meant for vaccination, flood aid, fire and special aid funds worth RM7,000 for the student category being presented.  A monetary assistance of RM2,500 was also presented for the staff category.

The Royal Chancellor was also pleased to present the contribution of RM5,000 to the Flood Victim Aid for UPM staff.

Contributions from university staff and the public to the Dana Wakaf Umum (General Waqf Fund) were also presented at the ceremony.

Contributions received from the UPM Registrar Office were presented by Dato' Wan Azman Wan Omar (RM240,146). The contribution from UPM Treasurer (RM327,242.80) was presented by Zulkiflee Othman, from UPM Islamic Centre (RM310,627.82) by Mat Razi Abdullah and from the Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowmen (WAZAN) (RM372,420.40) by Dr. Razali Othman. 

 

Datuk Sabiamad Abdul Ahad, handed over zakat income of Binasabi Sdn. Bhd for 2019 amounting to RM61,908.

UPM Holdings Board Member, Dato' Dr. Syed Hussain Syed Husman, handed over RM30,000 for UPM Prihatin@WAZAN Fund.

Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dato' Dr. Hair Bejo, received RM10,000 for the Hospital Veterinary Animal Welfare Fund while head of the Sports Centre, Dr. Hanapiah Ayub, received RM70,000 for the UPM Sports Centre Surau Wakaf Project.

A symbolic delivery of software and braille embosser machine for UPM Library worth RM40,000 was also held.

Wakaf Ilmu (Knowledge Waqf) is meant to facilitate UPM staff and alumni as well as the community to make contributions based on the concept of waqf to help fund academic activities, research and knowledge development in UPM. - UPM
