UPM records highest leap in the country in Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings

 

SERDANG - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) made the highest leap among the country’s universities in THE Asia University Rankings 2020 by 43 spots. This achievement places UPM at the 145th rank compared to 188th last year.

The assessment of THE Asia University Rankings takes into consideration 60% of research quality and high impact research indicators compared to other ranking assessments that are more focused on the overall reputation of the university. The ranking recognises UPM as an internationally renowned Research University.

There are five main indicators in THE Asia University Rankings assessment, namely Teaching (25%), Research (30%), Citations (30%), International Outlook (7.5%) and Industry Income (7.5%). UPM earned the highest spot in the country for the Research indicator, which includes the volume of publication, revenue from research and research reputation. 

This success is the result of collaboration and strategic partnership of the entire UPM community with strong support from the staff of various levels working together towards organisational values for excellence, diversity, sustainability, and integrity at UPM.

 

This achievement not only helps increase UPM’s level of excellence but also gives meaningful contributions to the community’s well-being and the nation’s progress.

 

This success truly enhances UPM’s spirit to strive further, working towards improving weaknesses and fortifying strengths by adopting approaches that are strategic to boost overall performance in the future. We will continue our structured efforts to benchmark our practices and performances with the world’s best universities.   

The results announced on 3 June 2020 saw 489 universities from 30 countries in Asia listed in THE Asia University Rankings 2020. - UPM
