College 17th emerges champion of UPM SUKOL 2018

SERDANG, Sept 29 – College 17th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) emerged overall champions in the UPM Inter-College Sports Championship (SUKOL) 2018, and won the Women’s Intercollege Badminton Competition for the first time.

Lau Lee Ann and Yee Xue Rou, both from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine were outstanding during the match. The College 17th Team received school bags as winning prize.

The championship held on 24th September at UPM Sports Centre was opened by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman.

“Even if we have tried hard, but ultimately failed, we do not need to feel sad because at least we have made the efforts and this can make us feel satisfied,” he said.

Menawhile, Yee Xue Rou said that she felt rejoiced upon their achievement and encouraged more students to take part in the coming competition.

“Besides getting to know each other, SUKOL aims to select potential badminton players to represent the university. It is also an opportunity for college residents to uplift college’s name in every competition they joined,” she said.

Each team consisted of nine players and two reserves. The competition was executed with three single players and three pairs of double players. - UPM
