SERDANG, Jan 13 – Being raised by a single mother is no barrier for Qistina Balqis Mohamad Zamri to continue her studies until she has successfully obtained a degree in Bachelor of Science in Park and Recreation at the 44th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony today.

“The sweetest success for me is when I completed my studies successfully and got on the stage today. To be honest, I don't have many study tips, but I spent a lot of time in the library revising and finding reference materials,” said the Kuala Lumpur-born girl.

Qistina Balqis, 25, the eldest of three siblings, said one of the challenges she faced throughout her studies was financial, and she was very grateful for the help from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).

“I am a passive and reserved person, and it became a challenge because, in my course, we do a lot of recreational activities. After a while, I was able to adjust myself and had fun in the course,” she said.

She is currently working as a Sales Executive at Pos Malaysia and hoping to secure a job in her field of study.

"Of the words that I believe in and also reminded by my family is to pray a lot to ease all matters,” she said. - UPM
