UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris appointed as President of  Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL).

UPM RUNNERSUP IN SUKIPT 2016


UPM Contingent bagged 41 gold medals, 19 silver and 21 bronze, emerged runnersup in SUKIPT 2016.

Ahmad Mustapha Mohamad Pazi, Master of Science student in Forestry Management And Ecosystem Sciences, Faculty of Forestry, UPM, won Best Photo Award at Asia-Pacific Forest Week 2016 (APFW 2016).

ASIA-EUROPE UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC NETWORK


UPM received Bernd Rode 2016 award in conjunction with 15th ASEA-UNINET Plenary Meeting at Udayana University,  Bali, Indonesia.

NATIONAL ICON FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES


Nur Ain Nabisya Azmi, Bachelor Of Science student in Human Development, Human Ecology Faculty, UPM, named National Icon for the disabled in conjunction with National OKU Convention 2016.

ROYAL SOCIETY OF CHEMISTRY (RSC) INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION


Three Bachelor programmes from Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, UPM, received recognition from international accreditation body, Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) based in United Kingdom. The three programmes are Bachelor of Science Honours in Chemistry, Bachelor of Science Honours in Industrial Chemistry and Bachelor of Science Honours in Petroleum Chemistry.

AUTODESK ASEAN DESIGN COMPETITION


Yap Heng Hee and Tan Mei Shan, both Bachelor of Science students in Architecture, Faculty of Design And Architecture, UPM, won gold medal under architecture category at Autodesk ASEAN Design Competition 2015.

QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS BY SUBJECTS


15 UPM subjects listed among world’s top 200 subjects by QS World University Rankings By Subject 2016, thus maintaining its position among  world’s 100 top universities for Agriculture and Forestry subjects for four consecutive years since 2013.

EDUNIVERSAL BEST MASTERS RANKING

 


UPM in 40th spot among world’s top universities in Agribusiness/ Food Industry Management, its  Master of Environment programme at 88th by Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking 2015/2016. UPM’s MBA in Human Resources Management, Master in General Management (MBS Specialisation), MBA in Marketing, Master of Management in Information Technology, Master of Sciences in Accounting and MBA (Finance) listed among 200 best programmes in Southeast Asia.

ASIA-EUROPE MUSEUM (ASEMUS) SINGAPORE


Muzium Warisan Melayu, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, UPM, picked to be part of  Asia-Europe Museum (ASEMUS) network.

SINGAPORE PANTUN FESTIVAL CHAMPION


UPM Pantun team, GAHARA, emerged champion in Singapore Pantun Festival for B Category held at National University of Singapore.

THE WORLD EXHIBITION ON INVENTIONS, RESEARCH AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syed Abdul Rahman  Al-Haddad Syed Mohamed, lecturer of Engineering Faculty, UPM, won gold medal at “The World Exhibition on Inventions, Research and New Technologies” exhibition in Brussels, Belgium, through product “GULAGA - Second Screen Video Information via Mobile Digital Video Identification”.

UPM listed by Times Higher Education (THE) for 101 – 150 rankings in THE 150 Under 50,  a position for world’s best universities among universities below  50 years old.

I-ENVEX EXHIBITION

 


Dr. Farzad Hejazi, senior lecturer of Engineering Faculty, UPM, won four gold medals and received Creative Innovation Special Award at International Engineering Invention And Innovation Exhibition (i-Envex 2016) through new innovations displayed at i-ENVEX -  “Nonlinear Conical spring Bracing System for Structures under Dynamic Load”, “Divergent Viscous Wall Damper”, “The FEM program for Analysis of RC Structure with Prestress Elements” and  “Rubber Damper Connector.”

WOMEN LEADERSHIP AWARD IN HEALTHCARE


Prof. Dr. Latiffah Abdul Latiff, lecturer of Medicine and Health Sciences Faculty, UPM, awarded Women Leadership Award 2016 in healthcare category at Golden Globe Tigers 2016 event, organized by CMO Asia Advisory Board, with the cooperation of Advisory Council of World Brand Congress.

NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING’ (NLP) BEST COACH AWARD


Prof. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar Sabran, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs And Alumni), UPM,  received ‘Neuro-Linguistic Programming’ (NLP) Best Coach award and ‘Certified NLP Coach’ certificate.

UPM STUDENT WINNER OF CABARAN USAHAWAN DAGANG (TRADEC 2015)


Muhamad Zakaria Zarkasi, Second Year student of Bachelor of Computer Science, Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, UPM, emerged champion in Cabaran Usahawan Dagang 2015 (TRADEC 2015) competition.

NURUL YAQEEN FOUNDATION BEST THESIS AWARD


Dr. Razali Othman, Director of Pusat Islam, UPM, won Best Thesis award from Nurul Yaqeen Foundation  2015,  under Doctor of Philosophy Best Thesis category in Social Science and Humanity, through his witings, entitled:  ‘Penggunaan Wang Fiat Sebagai Instrument Wakaf Tunai: Satu Kajian Teoretis’.

NATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP CHALLENGE 2015/16


Students of Faculty of Economics And Management, and Faculty of Modern Languages And Communication, UPM, comprising Kaviyarasu Elangkovan, Nor Aisah Mohamad, Pragatheswara Tapasvy (Bachelor of Economics), Tan Wai Loon (Bachelor of Accountancy) and Thiviyah Manican (Bachelor of Communication) won third placing in National Entrepreneurship Challenge (NEC) 2015/16.

DUTA JAUHAR 2.0 CONGRESS


A group of 15 UPM students from Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Johor won two awards – Best Agriculture Transformation and Overall Best Programme (third placing) at  Duta Jauhar 2.0 Congress.

MS ISO/IEC 17025 ACCREDITATION


Institut Teknologi Maju, UPM, obtained MS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation status under Malaysia Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (SAMM) for three years, from 25 March 2016 to  25 March 2019.

HONORARY ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER (CIVIL DEFENCE)


Prof. Datuk Dr. Mad Nasir B. Shamsudin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, UPM, appointed as Honorary Assistant Commissioner (Civil Defence), Malaysia Civil Defence Department for six years, beginning 1 January 2016 to 31 December,  2021.

GOLD MEDAL WON AT NATIONAL-LEVEL BEST THESIS AMONG INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING


Dr. Aida Tayebian, a graduate in Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, UPM, won gold medal at national-level Best Thesis of Institutions of Higher Learning (IPT) under Doctor of Philosophy category held in conjunction with World Water Day.

POPULAR ADADEMIC BOOK AWARD


Prof. Emeritus Dr. Hashim Musa and Dr. Rohaidah Kamaruddin, both from Faculty of Modern Languages And Communiation, UPM, received Anugerah Buku Ilmiah Popular at MAPIM-KPT award presentation ceremony through their writings - Hang Tuah: Catatan Okinawa.

INSTITUTE OF MARKETING MALAYSIA (IMM) FELLOWSHIP AWARD


Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris, UPM Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azmi Mohd Lila, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), awarded Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM) Fellowship Award 2016.

Puan Haslida Hassan,Integrity Unit Head,  Vice-Chancellor’s Office, UPM, certified as Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) at fifth CeIO Convocation.

FELLOW ACADEMY OF SCIENCES MALAYSIA (ASM)

 


Academy of Sciences Malaysia appointed four UPM scientists as new fellows for the year 2016. The four academics are Profesor Dr. –Ing. Ir. Renuganth Varatharajoo (Aerospace Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Dr. Borhanuddin Mohd Ali (Department of Computer and Communication Systems Engineering, Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Ismail (Biology Department, Science Faculty) and Prof. Dr. Mohd Ali Hassan (Bio-Processing Technology Department, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences).
